Books I Read: July 2025

Old School – Gordon Korman

—-Notes: This is a YA pick recommended by my librarian friend. I enjoyed it and it was refreshing to read something straight forward, with a good story. Very “clean” writing.

Unplugged – Gordon Korman

—-Notes: A pleasant surprise; I was engaged and found myself seeing what was going to happen next. See previous blurb about YA picks.

Griffin Sisters Greatest Hits – Jennifer Weiner

—-Notes: Another chick lit book by classic chick lit author Jennifer Weiner. Not my fave, but a decent way to pass an evening.

Paris for One – Jojo Moyes

—-Notes: Still love Jojo Moyes stories.

Must Love Books – Shauna Robinson

—-Notes: Overall a good/fun read. Chick lit/contemporary romance/urban fiction. I think it was a little angsty and like all mainstream fiction books after 2020, feels like themes like race, mental health, LGBTQ+ are “mandatory” to insert and can feel forced and disruptive in the story line.

Lager Queen of Minnesota – J. Ryan Stradal

—-Notes: Great, original style and story. This was a librarian recommendation and I really enjoyed it.

The Marriage Clock – Zara Raheem

—-Notes: Bollywood-style contemporary fiction/romance. Loved this story! I am minorly obsessed with contemporary Indian-American stories like this.
