Advent Day 6: God Transcends Our Limitations

Reading: Luke 1:30-34

Gabriel’s back at it, bringing messages straight from the presence of God. He’s like, what’s up Mary! You’re going to be carry the most important baby to ever grace the face of this planet in your womb.

He is the divine King – the One whose reign is forever and ever. The One who is the Savior of all Israel, the One everyone’s been waiting for after FOUR centuries of silence from Heaven.

Mary’s first internal response is to be troubled, and to wonder what this is going to mean for her engagement. Unfaithfulness within an engagement was something punishable by death in her time.

Mary’s first external response is tied up in the physical impossibility. How could this even be possible, considering the not insignificant fact that she was a virgin?

So often we want God to choose us, and yet we get tied up in our natural laws and limitations.

BUT GOD is not limited by those things and I pray we learn to trust Him and let it become second nature that He transcends our limitations to fulfill His purposes. As we co-labor with Abba, He removes obstacles and connects the dots in ways we are not capable of doing on our own.

Father: when You bless me with an assignment because of Your favor, may I be ready to allow You access to all of me. May I live out my role as a living sacrifice. It’s ok to ask questions, but I pray I don’t lose my sense of awe and wonder and the desire to see what You will do: what miracles You will weave into my everyday.

Thank You Lord, for Your purity, creativity, power, and beauty.

Amen.
